Tanzanite in 950 Palladium

This beautiful ring was designed by Dave Delaria and his brother Jeff did the bench work.  They make up the one two punch of Delaria Brother Goldsmiths in Henderson, NV.  Dave sold the customer on the concept, and then received a deposit to do the CAD.

1.  After approval we milled most of it.  Here you see the mill after it just finished the back shank.

2.  The front shank was milled also, but the head was grown because of its shape.  Here all three parts are ready to ship to be cast in 950 palladium.

3.  The parts are back from the caster looking great as usual.  They finished up nicely with no porosity.

4.  All 3 parts are cleaned-up and polished before assembly.  A few marks on the shank where the head will be soldered won’t matter after it is assembled.

5.  The prongs built in the CAD program are a setters dream.  All that was needed was to bristle brush polish the channel to brighten it up.  To set pre-notch all the seats with an undersize hart bur, and then a hart bur to match each stone size is used to make the final seat.  Then the beads are pushed over the diamonds with a beading tool.

6.  All the diamonds are set and a graver is used to clean up any burs, and to establish a gentle curve on the inside of the bezel wall to make it look like it was hand cut.

7.  The back band is all set and is ready to assemble to the front band.
